Bike Barn & MountainBikeTx.com present:

2009 Texas Road Trip

Texas Road Trip logoIt's been a year since MountainBikeTx.com started claiming to be Your Texas Mountain Bike Resource, and to celebrate we gave you even more reason to use us by trying to persuade you to hit as many Texas trails as possible over the course of the last 5 months.

From July 15 through December 15, 2009, the goal was to make your way to as many Texas trails as you could, ride 'em, get a picture of yourself at each trailhead (or park sign) with the 2009 Texas Road Trip flyer visible, and submit it.

Commonly Asked Questions

1. Who can participate?

Everyone and anyone! If you bike every day, twice a day, you can participate. If you ride your bike once a month, if that often, you can enter (though you might want to ride a bit more frequently if you wish to win). If you ride for recreation or ride to beat the competition, it doesn't matter.

2. Do I need a race license to participate?

No. Since this event is not sanctioned by an official race entity, nor is it considered a race, you do not need any type of license or permit to participate.

3. I don't have a printer, how else can I get a copy of the contest flyer?

Besides downloading and printing, flyers will be/are available at select bike shops and other locations. Naturally our sponsors should have them on hand, but other bike shops and select locations will have them available, as well. Click here to find a location that should have flyers available.

4. Is the contest flyer required to be in every photo? Am I?

Yes, both you and the flyer must be in every photo submitted or the photo will be removed and you will not get credit for riding that trail. This allows us to verify that 1) you were there, 2) the photo wasn't taken in 2003.

5. I like to ride solo and/or I have no friends that want to go riding when I do. How am I supposed to get a photo of myself?

You have three choices, 1) get a camera with a self-timer (then set it on your hood, a tripod, a rock, etc.), 2) ask a stranger to take your picture, or, 3) if you have really long arms, hold the camera out and snap away!

6. Do I get credit for a Bonus Trail even if I didn't find the clue or know it was a Bonus Trail?

Yes! Although finding the clues and hints may make it easier, you will still get credit for a Bonus Trail even if you didn't find the clue. The clues are simply for your benefit and to try and make it a little more fun. Note: See Official Rules for information on Bonus Trails

7. What can I win? What are the prizes?

A complete list of prize packages are listed in the Official Rules (see link above).
